Aston Villa Review: Episode 77 - Lerner's Villa are back to square one

Since beating Chelsea, Aston Villa have lurched from embarrassment to embarrassment. The mood has rapidly deteriorated from the reserved optimism of that win to the point where the club's chief executive, Paul Faulkner, had to put his name to a limp and possibly insulting statement begging for unity.

Of course, the target of that statement was the supporters. The supporters who've been there in numbers come rain or shine. The supporters who've given Paul Lambert and his team consistent backing throughout a period in which Villa have lost 8-0, been knocked out of cups three times by lower league opposition and been drawn back into a relegation battle for four years in a row. Yes, it's us that needs to think about unity.

In this week's Aston Villa Review, Chris and Steve assess the wreckage of Randy Lerner's tenure and ask whether Lambert has now overseen enough shameful performances to be given his marching orders.
