Figures in black: Aston Villa and adidas reveal 2025/26 away kit
What is this that stands before me?
Cards on the table: I am an adidas loyalist after many years working with the mighty Three Stripes. So, my club partnering with them was a long time coming and I’ve been very happy with the results.
Aston Villa have launched their 2025/26 away kit to coincide with the opening of the new club store at Birmingham’s Bullring. It’s black and grey. Obviously lots of people are saying it looks like a training kit because they always do. But my initial reaction was, is, positive.
adidas (yay!) and Betano (boooo!) are loud and proud, of course, as is the dastardly drop shadow on the otherwise improved club badge.
The new kit will make its on-pitch debut at Manchester United on Sunday and features the word ‘Villans’ across the back of the neck.
There’s lots of Bullring circles – let’s be honest, they’re all the hubcaps that don’t go on cars anymore – and what I think is a very smart feature across the shoulders.
“The design on the raglan shoulders is inspired by the Bullring, one of the iconic landmarks on the skyline of Birmingham,” according to the marketing blurb.
I’ve never cared about this as much as some supporters but I do think it’s nice that Villa will play in a new kit on the last day of the season after what feels like decades of being among the last to reveal the new garms.
What’s the verdict?
