Villa celebrate a football icon in gold sleeve detailing
Aston Villa’s new look picks out some beloved decorative details in glorious gold.
Villa have launched their 2025/26 home kit from adidas and its an unapologetic celebration of Villa Park.
In the second year of the deal, adidas has replaced claret stripes with white on the traditional light blue sleeves, which extend over the shoulder as far as a plain claret round collar.
The deep claret body is enriched by a subtle tonal design but it’s on the sleeve cuffs where you’ll find the star attraction.
Gold patterning on the claret cuffs represents the famous mosaic façade at the back of the Holte End, itself a nod to an even earlier history. It’s an easy cultural win and a distinctive look that deserves a better overall kit.
According to adidas: “The new home kit is a true representation of Aston Villa – classic, authentic, and deeply connected to the club’s roots. We wanted to ensure this kit not only looked sharp but also carried a piece of Villa Park with it, with the detailing on the cuff representing the iconic home where the shirt will be worn with pride by players and fans.”
The kit is completed in pleasingly traditional fashion, with white shorts and light blue socks in the full home configuration that will debut in Villa’s friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of the month.
Claret adidas stripes adorn the side of the shorts, while three subtle white stripes top the blue socks.
What’s the verdict?
