The Holy Trinity: Aston Villa conclusions from Premier League loss against Arsenal
Villa's winning run topped out at eleven matches in all competitions thanks to 4-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium
December was a phenomenal month for Aston Villa but ended in defeat against Arsenal in north London.
Villa were left smarting from a 4-1 scoreline but close the calendar year in third place in the Premier League. It wasn’t a great outcome for Villa, who limited Arsenal in the first half but fell apart after conceding the first goal.
It’s not ideal but it happens. In truth, it was an awful time to play them again. When very good, very emotional teams lose away games with the final kick of the ball, the last thing the opposition needs is to go to their place three weeks later and do them a favour. C’est la vie.
Regular readers will know that I could just copy and paste one entire conclusion from the last game.
And, yes, I’m furious about the exact same thing happening again. But this game was more interesting than one fatal goalkeeping error, so let’s have a look at some other stuff.
