The Holy Trinity: Aston Villa conclusions from awful Premier League defeat against Brentford
Villa have started 2025/26 in stinking form and need to improve massively – fast
There’s no blaming this one on PSR.
Aston Villa fell to their first defeat of the Premier League season against Brentford on Saturday and there can be no excuses for this woeful performance against a team with every chance of going down.
It’s a poor reflection on Villa that I’m more convinced of that after the game than I was before it. Brentford were shite. Villa have problems and the answers, on this occasion, were available to Unai Emery.
The previous performance against Newcastle United called for big changes and Emery essentially made none.
Emiliano Martínez came in for Marco Bizot in goal after serving a suspension. Ezri Konsa had a one-match ban so Pau Torres came in at the back.
That’s it. No wonder there was no improvement whatsoever.
Here is your Holy Trinity of match conclusions.
