As starts to a new season go, this one sure was a beginning or something.

Aston Villa kicked off the new Premier League campaign with the tamest of 0-0 draws against Newcastle United, a game so devoid of incident that even a red card for Ezri Konsa managed to be boring.

Villa were not good, but a point’s a point and we’ll be laughing up the other sleeve in May if it makes the difference. Onwards and upwards.
