When it mattered, Tyrone Mings was there. His winning header against Brighton & Hove Albion has been registered as an own goal for Jack Hinshelwood but we all know the truth.

Aston Villa needed their former captain at that exact moment. With Manchester United and Chelsea failing to win their Premier League fixtures on Tuesday evening, Wednesday was another opportunity for Villa to steal a couple of points in the fight for a Champions League berth.

It took a goal in the last five minutes but Unai Emery and his players got the job done and it was two long-time Villans, corner-taking substitute Leon Bailey and goalscorer Mings – shut up; it was – who created the simple set piece that made the difference.
