Sometimes, it’s best to get right back on the horse.

Aston Villa let all the air out of their recent run with Thursday night’s performance against Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League. With two sloppy goals conceded and an hour of subpar football, the unbeaten streak wound back to zero.

But this is football. It isn’t measured in streaks. Streaks are for bacon. You’re only as good or bad as your last match and Unai Emery will know better than most that a win on Sunday will eclipse defeat on Thursday.

If Villa can find a way to beat Manchester City in the Premier League – they did at home in each of the last two seasons – the Go Ahead Eagles game will be forgotten in an instant.
