It’s amazing how quickly football can change. I’m never quite sure what turns a losing team into a winning one or a winning team into a losing one, but I’m sure there’s more to it than each result piggybacking on the last.
Aston Villa have made a compelling case for impetus this season. I could put together a reasoned argument that the Europa League win against Bologna broke one pattern and began another.
Villa didn’t beat Fulham because they beat Bologna, nor did they beat Feyenoord because they beat Fulham. It sure does feel like that sometimes.
Unai Emery and his team still have work to do, especially in the Premier League.
