Sometimes, I really hate football. I think losing is important so it’s never just about the result, but a lazy performance or a catastrophic and avoidable refereeing error can get my back up.
Aston Villa were neither idle nor robbed in Sunday’s Premier League defeat against Brentford. Instead, the game served up football’s greatest disappointment: a massive, stinking, busybody failure of the VAR process.
Tammy Abraham scoring the equaliser was a magnificent moment until it wasn’t. While I think Villa can feel aggrieved about it, I think it’s more important to acknowledge that football just fucking sucks when people who don’t like goals are in charge.
I thought fun was the whole point of this game. Shows what I know. I’m bored of watching long throw-ins as well but that’s for another day.
