Villa have restrictions on their investment but a whole load of work to do to stay competitive in 2026/27
As the World Cup moves into its last few rounds, the summer transfer window is open and a handful of Premier League clubs are already making moves.
Aston Villa have their own plans and their own circumstances. They’ve been so successful in the last few years that there’s no reason to doubt what they’re doing and little point in being concerned about the likes of Tottenham Hotspur throwing money around before Villa make a move.
Villa will be active in the summer transfer window and Unai Emery will have the squad he needs to put his plan back into action at the start of the 2026/27 season.
What that summer work looks like is anyone’s guess. Roberto Olabe and Emery have some important decisions to make and they broadly fall into four categories: ins, outs, contracts and prospects.
