Aston Villa’s summer mini-tour in the United States began in the early hours of Sunday (UK time) with a 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga.

Villa scored early in both halves through first-time finishes from Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, who put away chances created by Donyell Malen, but were twice pegged back after cheaply giving the ball away in their own third.

Eintracht caused Villa problems in possession at the back and forced errors from Tyrone Mings, Youri Tielemans, Ezri Konsa, Ian Maatsen and Joe Gauci, but the performance, intent and intensity were notably improved from the preparatory fixtures against Walsall and Hansa Rostock.
